The Addis Ababa Branch is one of the 10 Branches of Organization for Social Services, Health and Development (OSSHD) which was established in 1997 to take over the role of dealing with in the city government of Addis Ababa. OSSHD is committed to improve the livelihood of the vulnerable segment 1 of through a community-based integrated health, social services, and development interventions by working with community and governmental structures.

Key Achievements of OSSHD Addis Ababa


  1. Promote behavioral changes through IEC/BCC and counseling
  2. Realize community involvements at all level
  3. Improve the life condition of PLWH, PWD FSW and other targets groups through care and support (social support) program.
  4. Reduce stigma and discrimination through capacity building and awareness rising of the community.
  5. Promote healthy sexual reproductive health behaviors.
  6. Targeted IEC/BCC materials distribution Using the grass root structures and closely working with government health extension workers and health development army, community association and networks for providing services.
  7. Creating partnerships with key players in the government and private sectors, this include holding sub city and woerda level meeting for stakeholders to make plans and review progress.
  8. Analyzing the capacity of community – based organization , and other groups to provide FP/PMTCT/SRH information and service to those with HIV or at high risk of infection.
  9. Disseminating lessons learned and advocating at the local and national level for scalingup convergence of HIV and SRH service.
  10. Conduct Monitoring and evaluation with local partner that can provide continuing support for M&;E .supporting field-level activities with a large community of learning is vital.

  12. 3000 students were given peer-to-peer training by providing reproductive health and peer-to- peer training to male and female students.
  13. Enhance community participation and community mobilization.
